For more than 30 years I worked with youth, and families - for much of that time I began my sermons asking everyone to raise their Bibles over their head and repeat after me; “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man of God (that means ladies too) would be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) I would then ask them to switch hands (the bible might be getting heavy) and they would continue repeating, “Jesus said it - I believe it - ‘nuf said!”
It was after one of these opening that a student asked me why I did the “Jesus said it” part since Paul wrote 2nd Timothy where we were quoting from. I explained that God-Breathed all of the Bible, in the opening of John (1:1) we hear that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” we would soon their after learn that Jesus was who John was calling “The Word.” So it was infact the Trinity speaking through Paul - Father + Son + and Holy Spirit. So it’s correct to say Jesus said it!
Today if you are joining us on the “God Speaks” 30 day Bible Challenge you will be reading day 1 of the journey. (It’s not too late to get a book from Amazon) I am praying for your journey as we prepare to get into the Word and see what God has to say, and how He uses his Word in our lives.
So dust off that Bible and settle in for an adventure with the greatest “Truth” ever told!
